From May 13 to 16, a team of 7 experts from Beijing Hospital, Institute of Software of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the China High-tech Industrialization Association, led by Gong Tao, director of the Department of Neurology of Beijing Hospital, visited our university. Experts from Beijing visited Henan Medical School (HMS), Huaihe Hospital of HENU, and The First Affiliated Hospital of HENU, and conducted in-depth exchanges and reached cooperation intentions on matters such as construction of specialist medical treatment combination and big data center for health care.

On the afternoon of May 13, a visit and exchange symposium of Beijing experts and HMS was held in Meeting Room 208 of the Administration Building of Jinming Campus of HENU. Wu Liang, chairman of Kaifeng Science and Technology Association, Liu Wei, level II investigator of Kaifeng Science & Technology Bureau, Liu Shengya, vice chairman of Kaifeng Science and Technology Association, Sun Junjian, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of HENU, and Secretary of the Party Committee of the HMS, members of the leadership team of the HMS, directors of the offices and the vice presidents of the affiliated hospitals attended the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Ren Xuequn, Executive Vice President of the HMS.

Chen Hailing, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the HMS, extended a warm welcome to the visit of the Beijing experts and introduced the basic situation of the HMS. He said that HMS has made a series of achievements in the process of medical education reform, but there are also certain problems. He hoped that the arrival of experts from Beijing would bring valuable experience and the two sides could reach a cooperative intention to jointly contribute to China's medical and health undertakings.

Wu Liang said that the Kaifeng Municipal Party Committee and the Kaifeng Municipal People’s Government attach great importance to scientific and technological innovation, actively embrace HENU with a century-old history, and explore the road of city-university cooperation and joint development to help local economic development. The Kaifeng Science and Technology Association will build a bridge between technology and industry, actively connect with and serve for the Beijing experts, and promote the implementation of cooperative projects.

On behalf of the Beijing experts, Gong Tao briefly introduced the relevant situation of Beijing Hospital and the intention of exchanges and cooperation. He hopes to further promote the construction of the specialist medical treatment combination with the construction of the National Geriatrics Center and the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases as an opportunity and with the construction of big data center for health care as the support.

Sun Junjian thanked the visit of Beijing experts to HMS with selfless feelings to help a better development of the school's medical education cause. He pointed out that, in the new era, as the development of medical education in China is at a special historical development node, HMS urgently needs to re-examine how the medical education at HMS can more actively respond to the new challenges during the period of the “14th Five-Year Plan”, and clearly know what HMS should adhere to, and what it should conduct the reform and innovate in. He emphasized that the Beijing experts brought rich and high-quality resources such as science and technology, policy resources, and standard setting to the medical education of HMS, and HMS would accurately grasp the entry point of cooperation in the aspects of talent training, scientific research and discipline construction, medical and health service support, academic exchanges, and industrial chain. He hoped that the discussion with high-level experts this time could identify the bottlenecks that restrict the development of medical education in HMS, open up ideas, and solve shortcomings. With the help of Beijing experts, HMS will practically implement various cooperation matters, and further promote the innovative development of the medical education at HMS.
