Under the new situation of deepening the reform, innovation and development of the medical and health system and medical education, how public hospitals in China seize the opportunity and take advantage of the opportunity to accelerate the realization of high-quality development become a hot and focused topic of current social concern. On April 9-11, the first Bozhi Zhishan Hospital Management Forum and the Inaugural Meeting of the HENU Hospital Management Institute hosted by the Henan Medical School (HMS) attracted nearly 400 leaders, experts, and hospital administrators from all over the country to gather at HENU for exchanges and discussions.

The meeting announced the establishment of the HENU Hospital Management Institute and issued letters of appointment to the members of the Hospital Management Institute. With the theme of "Technology Development and Healthy China", it has four sub-forums to share experience and promote consensus on hospital management, informatization and chronic disease management, traditional Chinese medicine system construction and medical and pharmaceutical industry trends. Li Dachuan, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Medical Administration of the National Health Commission of China, Wang Chengzeng, Deputy Director of Health Commission of Henan Province, and Sun Junjian, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of HENU, and Party Secretary of HMS, attended the opening ceremony of the meeting and delivered speeches.

On behalf of HENU and HMS, Sun Junjian extended a warm welcome to all leaders, experts and scholars. He pointed out that in order to implement the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and strive to promote the construction of healthy China, in 2021 - the first year of the 14th Five Year Plan, the HENU Hospital Management Institute was established. He emphasized that the Institute should give full play to the multidisciplinary advantages of HENU, and further build and develop hospitals in accordance with the new requirements of medical and health system reform and high-quality development of hospitals; further promote the integration of medical treatment, teaching, research and production in affiliated hospitals of universities, promote the reform of medical education, and accelerate the innovation and development of medical education; adopt new development concepts to build a new development pattern, promote the sustainable and innovative development of hospitals, and make due contributions to the construction of healthy China and the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation; closely cooperate with the government, enterprises and industries, strengthen the construction of the think tank, give full play to the functions of counseling, enlightening and educating, and provide strong support for the “double first-class” construction of HENU.

Wang Chengzeng pointed out that, based on the needs of the people, HENU has cultivated a large number of high-quality medical talents with solid theoretical foundation, strong practical ability, innovative spirit and development potential, providing strong talent support for the construction of healthy Central Plains. The establishment of the Institute is a good start for HENU to expand the field of health research, and is also a milestone practice. He emphasized that the Institute should give full play to the advantages of interdisciplinary, highlight the characteristics of informatization, actively accept new ideas, strive to make the characteristics of HENU and Henan Province in the field of hospital management research, strive to make achievements and win a place for Henan in the hospital management research in China, better benefit the people of Central Plains by improving the management ability and level of hospitals in Henan Province, and make due contribution for writing a more brilliant chapter in Central Plains in the new era.

Li Dachuan attended the meeting online and delivered a speech. He paid tribute to HENU for attaching great importance to hospital management research. He pointed out that hospitals play an important role and undertake important tasks in the construction of China's medical and health system, the maintenance of people’s health, and the maintenance of national public safety. In order to promote the high-quality development of hospitals, in the process of formulating relevant policies, experts and scholars are especially needed to conduct organized research on hospital management and put forward opinions and suggestions. He hopes that the Institute can unite and lead a national team of experts in hospital management and related aspects, accurately establish the research direction and organize all forces to conduct research in accordance with the requirements of high-quality development of hospitals, deepening the reform of the medical and health system, and building healthy China, put forward research opinions for the reference of government decision-making departments, and make the contribution for the construction of healthy China and the high-quality development of hospitals.

It is reported that in order to improve the quality and safety of hospital management and medical service, cultivate hospital management talents, carry out research work on discipline construction and talent echelon construction, HENU approved the establishment of the HENU Hospital Management Institute on November 20, 2020, which is affiliated to HMS. The Institute will carry out exploration, research, practice and promotion of technical implementation means around the implementation of relevant management policies, regulations and systems in medical treatment, medical insurance and medicine, and serve medical management departments, medical insurance agents, medical institutions, digital and intelligent information technology and other enterprises and institutions. It will collaborate with relevant institutions to build a high-level hospital management research center based on market demand, and enhance the core competitiveness and comprehensive medical treatment, teaching and research capabilities of HMS and its affiliated institutions.
