From April 9 to 10, the Central China Regional Competition of the 10th China University Student Medical Technology Skills Competition for the Five-year Clinical Medicine Specialty was held at China Three Gorges University. Four undergraduate students of Class 2016 from HENU majored in Clinical Medicine, namely, Zhu Yunlong, Cheng Tianran, Xu Ruyi, and Niu Yuxin, formed a team to take part in the competition on behalf of HENU. They competed with 96 contestants from 24 medical schools in Hubei, Hunan and Henan provinces on the same stage and won the second prize.
The content of this competition covers internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, nursing, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, etc. Contestants highly restored the clinical medical environment by medical simulation, standardized patients and other operations. The competition well reflects the medical education orientation of basic theories, basic knowledge and basic skills. It not only examines students’ basic operating skills, but also examines students’ clinical thinking, teamwork, doctor-patient communication, and humanistic care, so as to comprehensively investigate the competence of medical students.
Since preparing for the competition in January this year, the School of Clinical Medicine has attached great importance to it. Huaihe Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital have sent more than 40 key clinical teachers including Wang Yunqian and Xu Guoliang to provide specific training for 77 subjects. During the training, Xie Naze, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Clinical Medicine, Zhang Yijie, Dean of the School of Clinical Medicine and Dean of Huaihe Hospital, visited the training site many times, and promptly provided guidance and suggestions on the problems that occurred in the daily training work. The main leaders of Huaihe Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital attached great importance to the training, and the leaders in charge coordinated in the whole process to provide students with strong logistical support. The teaching offices, clinical skills training centers, endoscopy training bases and other departments of the two hospitals cooperated efficiently and closely, formulated training programs scientifically, strictly implemented training standards, and flexibly designed training forms to ensure orderly and efficient training.
